Recently, I took some self portraits that I love.

And ever since I have been dreaming of getting one printed super large to hang in our house.

Do you know what’s been holding me back? Vanity. And the idea that I shouldn’t openly appreciate myself. That by having this picture of me is somehow selfish and I should enjoy it in private.

But I’ve done that for too long, and all it does is make me feel small and insignificant. And that is not what I dream of for my life. I long to have connection to self and with others, in a meaningful way, and that means I have to show up. I have to be seen. I have to be who I am.

This has evolved into a sense of peace for me. It’s impacted the way I photograph people in front of my camera. I am here to connect and build a gallery of portraits that speak to who the person is in front of me. So they too can feel seen. So they too can know it’s okay to appreciate who they are.
